Meridian Medical was named Business of the Year (over 10 employees) and Employer of the Year at the Arun Business Partnership Awards 2022, capping off five years of hard work and dedication by the team to turn around the company’s fortunes.
The leading contract medical device manufacturer, based in Littlehampton, West Sussex, is run by brothers James and Marcus Fenton, who took over the business in 2017 after their father, Ian, passed away. They wanted to honour his legacy by bringing the company back to profitability and making it a company staff were proud to work for.
Speaking of the award wins, James said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won these awards. There are so many people working at Meridian Medical who made this possible and it’s fantastic that the whole team can get the recognition they deserve.
“We have spent the last five years making significant changes to the company to allow it to be an industry leading supplier of medical devices able to compete on the world stage. Not only do we have the correct equipment but a fantastic company culture of people to bring it all together.
“A huge thanks to all the staff at Meridian Medical and the companies that provide support, our customers, suppliers and friends.”
The brothers have invested heavily in the business since assuming responsibility, building new production facilities, increasing manufacturing capacity and ensuring that staff are happy with new office facilities.
The company has also become a certified National Living Wage employer and provides a range of enhanced employee benefits.
“Having happy staff that are secure in their roles has been a very important factor in making Meridian Medical the business it is today,” said James. “The whole team pulled together to create a fantastic working environment and thriving business. The business is back into profitability, running effectively and efficiently, and maintaining production despite the challenges of Brexit and the Covid pandemic.”
Meridian Medical collected their awards at the Arun Business Partnership’s Awards Ceremony on the evening of Thursday 17th November.
